Open House Tips for Sellers

An open house is a great way to expose your home to potential buyers. While your REALTOR® will promote and host the open house, as the seller, there are some things that you can do too…

To present your home at its best, make sure it is clean and decluttered. Tell your neighbors about the open house, they might know someone who’s looking for a home in your area.

When it comes to securing your home for the open house, keep these common sense things in mind. All valuables should be stored in a secure place, especially things like jewelry and small electronics like laptops or iPods. Be sure to put away any checks, bills, and ID cards – and don’t leave remote garage door openers or spare keys in plain sight. Also remove all prescription drugs from your medicine cabinet.

Your REALTOR® will typically ask visitors to sign-in to the open house and they will also lock all doors and windows at the conclusion of the open house.

By cooperating with your REALTOR®, an open house can be a productive and hopefully rewarding way to find the right buyer.
