Preparing Your Home for the Photo Shoot

Most of today’s home buyers start their home shopping online where they will find high resolution photos of homes for sale. To be competitive in today’s real estate market, it’s a must that you have quality photos taken of your home. Professional photographers will tell you that the better you prepare your home, the better the photos will turn out.

  • Thoroughly clean the interior of your home, keeping in mind that today’s high-resolution digital cameras capture a lot of details.
  • Declutter all rooms. Excessively furnished rooms don’t photograph well, so consider storing any excess items.
  • Have your yard looking its best, with the lawn and bushes trimmed, leaves raked and trees pruned. Also, keep garbage cans, cars, tools and toys out of sight.
  • Just prior to the photo shoot, turn on all lights, both interior and exterior, and open all blinds and curtains to let in as much natural light as possible.

Simply put, you’ll want your home looking its best in order to leave a lasting impression on potential buyers.
