Is there a best time of year to sell your home?
You may have heard that spring is the best time of year to put your home on the market. It’s true that listing inventories increase in spring, as do the number of interested home buyers. More Home sales take place between April and July than any other time of the year, primarily because families with children don’t like to change schools in the middle of a school year. Also, properties tend to show better in the spring when their lawns and gardens are in full bloom.
In the winter months, listing inventories tend to be lower and there are also fewer buyers, but most REALTORS® agree that both buyers and sellers in the winter market are highly motivated.
Selling seasons can also be based on climate conditions in areas of the country where weather plays a prominent role. For example, beach towns have high summer sales, while ski areas flourish in the winter.
Remember, it’s always a good time to sell your home if the price is right, no matter what the season.
